Our home is very comfortably furnished. The main living level has one bedroom, bathroom, living room/ dining room with gas log fireplace. Three sliding glass door provide you with a stunning view and give you access to the deck.This level is partially covered and has furniture and an out door cooking area facing the lake ( we provide a griddle, crock pot and Grill). LOCAL ACTIVITIES: to the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is about 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, (as well as other sporting equipment), and fish. There is a great mountain biking trail, as well as hiking trails. Prayer Mountain is right up the road. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is the Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. 30 minutes away, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can walk in the river, find and keep, precious gems. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. Merlefest (September 16-19, 2021), a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. There is fun for all ages. Located in the Brushy Mountains of Western North Carolina, this peaceful refuge, is nestled between a rock shelf and a creek. The little hollow is a great place for play or just getting away from it all. Walk down the steep hillside to the 12x12 insulated cabin, which is extended with a 10x12 ft. deck. The Tree House hangs off of a rock ledge and is supported by trees. Whether rain or shine, this location is peaceful, private, and serene. Dogwood trees hang gracefully over the deck. Larger trees dapple the large, private site with partial shade. Wade into the shallow stream, sit on the deck, rest near the fire pit, or sit on the tree swings, and hammocks, and listen to the little stream that borders the camp. The interior of the cabin is small, simple, but comfortable and includes a loft with a queen sized bed and a futon. The kitchen includes cabinets for storage and a place for food preparation. To make your stay easier, we have added a few essentials, food items, as well as cooking equipment. On the deck there is Coleman cooking stove available for your use. The paths have solar lights so you can find your way in the dark. It is very, very dark at night under the tree canopy. Please bring a flashlight so you can get around safely. There is a small, exterior, but attached outhouse with a sawdust composting toilet. For those in your company who prefer a more primitive camping experience, there is plenty of room to pitch tents. If you have a larger group of people, you can also book our second site, The Suspended Sanctuary Tree Tent. The two sites are close enough for easy visiting but far enough a part for privacy. Play in the stream, follow the brook down to the neighbor's horse pasture, and into the woods, or wander upstream to the man-made waterfall. Walk up the gravel road to our farm and meet our goats, chickens, donkeys, and horses. This is a working hobby farm. WINTER CAMPING: The wood stove that you see in the photos is merely decoration. There is no stovepipe. While many are capable of using a wood stove, all it takes is one mistake. So, we have provided a Mr. Heater Buddy that runs on 1# propane canisters. Please bring your own fuel. The directions on the Mr. Heater says that it burns 6 hours on low and 3 hours on high. The cabin is insulated and stays warm. Where we live, it is cold at night and often pleasant during the day. This is a camping experience. There are spiders, bugs, crayfish, snakes, wild animals, dirt, etc. Please bring bug-spray. Guest access The cabin and all the property nearby is for you to use. There is a small area of the creek which is also available for our second campsite guests. There is quite a bit of distance between the cabin and the lower part of the creek. Other things to note The cabin easily sleeps four people. However, if you have additional people in your group, there is plenty of room for tents on the premises. Look at the photos for group photos. Also, many guests have put a tarp over the deck to keep out rain and sun. It helps to extend the living space of the house. Ask for details.

Many amenities are included. Message me if you have more than three people. There is room for a ground tent or hammocks. The space The cost per night includes 3 people. Each additional person is $10 a night. Sleep suspended over this wooded mountainside, in a Tentsile, three person, tree tent but works better with only two adults. This primitive campsite, and suspended tree tent, provides a unique experience for campers, new and seasoned. This shelter, complete with a rain fly, is located on a steep hillside in the woods of Western North Carolina. The tent is designed to protect you in all weather conditions, rain or shine. Once you arrive, you will have a short trek through the woods to this location. Then, when you arrive at the clearing, you will be surrounded by trees and embraced by the landscape. Here you will find the hammock and tree tent. The tent is built to house three people. Climb up into hammock and then up into the tent and experience living and sleeping among the trees. Tentsile recommends, when its colder, that you use a pad or mattress of some sort to keep the cold from chilling you as you sleep. There is a fire pit, with a grill as well as a rocket stove. I do not provide firewood. However, you can gather dead fall wood, if you wish. Note: The canopy of trees keeps even the dry wood difficult to light. Please bring hand tools, fire starters, charcoal briquettes, etc. for helping you get a fire going. Lay on the hammock and listen to the horses grazing peacefully below the camp. The creek babbles near by. In the evening, the tree frogs sing their nighttime song. When the fireflies come out, they twinkle like nature's Christmas lights. A short walk away, through a small wetland , you will find the place where the spring fed creek gathers into a shallow pool. Here, you can easily wash up. Please use biodegradable soap. The hammock trail is also lit, along with the moonshine still. :o) Brand new deck has just been completed that overlooks the creek. Great place for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. We have a fireplace (during cold winter months) and are allowed 2 armfuls of wood. We advise to stop by Walmart or Lowes Hardware (or any store that sells bundles of wood) if you are a lover of fires and intend on using more than the allowable amount. We do ask that you do NOT bring any "DURAFLAME" or similar products to be used in the fireplace. Please use wood only. The waxy buildup from these products is horrible on our chimney and can actually cause chimney fires. Please do not bring any liquid flame starter to the cabin to be used in the fireplace. Bring newspaper for starting fires please. You will want to bring extra wood anyway so that you can enjoy the new fire pit we just built. It is a great place to sit and relax, and enjoy nature! My favorite things to do is take a scenic drive through Blue Ridge Parkway stop at several beautiful spots for picnic and leisurely stroll along easy trails or hike to waterfalls. Grandfather Mountain is a well known spot along the Parkway. You can go to Blowing Rock, a small resort town with nice shops and restaurants about 25 miles away. You can do white water rafting, canoeing or zip line adventure though the outfitters in Boone. Horse back trail rides through Leatherwood Mountains stable or other stables in Boone area. There are several wineries to explore in the nearby areas. Most of our guests just want to stay around the cabin and relax in the private mountain setting.
